TREASURE COAST YOUTH SYMPHONY INCREASES SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS TO
$11,500.00 FOR THE 2009-2010 SEASON
JUNE 2010 -
The Treasure
Coast Youth Symphony increased its end-of-season scholarships and
music awards to $11,500.00.
The previous season’s awards were $9,500.00.
Even in a down economy the talented young musicians of the
orchestra were able to bring in another successful season by their
outstanding performances of the music of the world’s greatest
composers. Enthusiastic
audiences and concert revenues augmented by the generosity of
private individual, business and organizational benefactors made it
possible for the Treasure Coast Youth Symphony to provide the
increased funding.
Students who
received scholarships for the 2009-2010 season are Kathryn Adams
(cello), Austin Boller (bassoon), Liana Branscome (violin), Kalie
Combass (clarinet), John Enyart, III (violin), Hannah Geisinger (viola), Kaila Geisinger
(harp), Alexa Grohowski (viola), Amanda Grohowski (violin), Marissa
Hoffman (violin), Jonathan
Holman (French horn), Kevin Ibanez (violin), Paddy King (violin),
William Li (flute), Alexis Planer (oboe), Joseph Rubano (cello),
Mikaela Shannon (oboe) and Troy Wiley (trombone).
Scholarships and special awards were supplemented through the
support of Women Supporting the Arts and the Arts Foundation of
Martin County, Classic Cleaners, Elisabeth Lahti, Marie Juriet,
Richard and Helen Boyd, Daniel Stanzione, and Rebecca Richardson.
TCYS SCHOLARSHIPS AND SPECIAL AWARDS REACH $9500 FOR THE 2008-2009 SEASON
August 2009 - A successful season combining the musical virtuosity of the most talented young musicians on the Treasure Coast, the music of the world's greatest composers, the excitement and enthusiasm of local audiences, and the generosity of private individual, business and organizational benefactors, made it possible for the Treasure Coast Youth Symphony to provide $9000.00 in scholarships and special awards to a number of its member musicians.
Students who received scharships for the 2008-2009 season are John Adams (violin), Isaac Ball (violin), Liana Branscome (violin), LaIsla Collins (flute), Leandra Combass (trumpet), Melissa Enyart (cello), Geoffrey Fair (French horn), Daniel Giacobbe (clarinet), Anthony Grande (percussion), and Kyle Tesalona (violin). Additionally, William Li (flute) and Jonathan Holman (French horn) each received the Rebecca Richardson Sponsor Award, Troy Wiley (trombone) received the Daniel Stanzione Sponsor Award, and Alexis Planer (oboe) received the Elizabeth Lahti Sponsor Award.
The scholarships and awards are used by orchestra members to continue music education during a summer music program or to enter a college level musical curriculum in the fall, to obtain private lessons from professionals, or to assist in the purchase of musical instruments. The orchestra's activities and scholarships are funded by its performance revenues and are supplemented by donations and grants from private individuals and organizations, including the Atlantic Classical Orchestra, Women Supporting the Arts and the Arts Foundation of Martin County.

2008
- Eleven of the Treasure Coast Youth Symphony’s outstanding young
musicians were awarded scholarships at the conclusion of the
orchestra’s sensationally successful 2007 / 2008 concert season.
Scholarship recipients are Jesse Ball, Joseph Warner, Jane
Wilberding, Chad Jarvis, Julia Stetler, Janell Gray, David Urbinati,
Kathryn Adams, Laura Servinsky and Nathan Kusel and Michael Ferrara.
Scholarships are awarded based on the merit of the student in
striving for artistic and technical excellence demonstrated through
preparation, attendance, dependability, leadership and desire to
continue their music education.
The young musicians may use the scholarships to continue
their music education during a summer program of their choice, or at
the college level for students entering a musica curriculum in the
fall, or for private lessons or instrument purchase.

2008 - Selected members of the 2007-2008
Treasure Coast Youth Symphony were honored to play a side-by-side
concert with the professional musicians of the Atlantic Classical
Orchestra conducted by internationally acclaimed Grammy Award
nominee, Stewart Robertson last March.
The young musicians played with the orchestra in its
performance of Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 4, op. 36 in F Minor at the

2007-2008 CONCERTO
CONTEST WINNERS
January 2008
– The Treasure Coast Youth Symphony accompanied the three winners of
the 2007-2008 concerto contest during orchestra’s spring concert
performances of COLLAGE.
Solo performances included Chad Jarvis playing marimba in
Rosauro’s Concerto For Marimba And Orchestra, Lindsey Reymore,
playing the first movement of Concerto in C Minor, an oboe
concerto by baroque composer Marcello, and Erica Yeager, playing the
third movement of the Bassoon Concerto in F Minor by Von
Weber. Performances
