The mission of the Treasure Coast Youth Symphony is to provide young musicians with the opportunity to perform challenging music in a professional manner in professional venues. HIGH SCHOOL For the 2011-2012 concert season, audition requirements for all high school musicians (regardless of age or grade) are the same requirements used for the 11th and 12th grade All State Symphonic Band audition (woodwinds, brass, percussion) and 11th and 12th grade All State Orchestra audition (strings). MIDDLE SCHOOL If you are in middle school, you may prepare the 9th and 10th grade materials for the All State Concert Band (woodwinds, brass, percussion) or the 9th and 10th grade Orchestra (strings) unless you are an advanced student and would like to audition at the higher level. To audition at the higher level you must use the 11th and 12th grade materials that are required of the high school students. NOTE: If you are invited to become a member musician of the Treasure Coast Youth Symphony after audition, your performance during the audition may also be used for seating purposes. To be considered for Academy Orchestra performances you must audition using the 11th and 12th grade audition materials. These requirements are not meant to discourage you from auditioning. Please prepare to the best of your ability and you will do well. This change in audition requirements will provide a basis for comparison of a variety of levels of play which do not always run concurrently with age or grade in school.
